Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

After, paying the $15.00 day fee we parked at the South parking lot. The hike to the visitor center was up hill. Some people park at the visitor center or park half way up the hill and take the Guy Fleming trail 2/3 mile loop. However, we decided to walk the hill to the visitor center.

The visitor center staff had good information about the birds at Torrey Pines Reserve and what trails to walk. We were able to spot a Peregrine Falcon because of the staff’s recommendations.

Kevin & I walked the beach trail to flat rock. It’s a very popular trail. We saw many fellow hikers along the trail.

The end of the beach trail is very narrow with steps leading to the beach.

This soft sandstone can break off, tumbling into the beach at anytime. Rockfalls occur any time of the year, so stay away from the sandstone.
