Picking out the perfect campsite

Kevin and I are camping at Wilderness Lakes Preserve in Menifee, CA for the week. Picking out a campsite is a new experience for both of us. We looked 3 campsites. Then practiced our backing up skills at the 3 camping sites. Finally, we went back to the first camp site we found.

What I’ve been looking for in a campsite.
Any suggestions are welcome

  1. It’s level
  2. The satellite isn’t obstructed by trees
  3. Very Spacious
  4. Afternoon Shade
  5. Nice Friendly Neighborhood 🙂

  1. Good electrical at the pole. Since we bought one of those things to plug in and shows if the connection is actually good, we have been pretty surprised at how many are not, including a site at one of the state parks we frequent a lot. All of those other things are what we look for. If we are staying in a park that has a dog run, we try to get a site pretty close to it, if possible, since we have two dogs. Sometimes it is also nice to be a bit closer to the restroom/shower building, if we are camped at a site that does not have a sewer connection, although that is not a real issue for us most of the time. Have fun!

  2. Ease of getting in and out of the site ranks really high on my list. Also being level. Anything else is a plus. Also, like your previous commenter, we always use the surge guard to check the outlet before plugging in. Not many problems out west but the east is really bad.
