House Finch

Pio Pico Thousand Trails in Jamul, CA

When Kevin and I went on our walk we saw this finch. I liked the color of the red on the cactus. But with the finch sitting on it – Wow!

Finches Fun

  • The finches lifespan ranges from 4 to 7 years old. Their maximum longevity is 20 years but that is rarely attained.
  • Finches are best as visual entertainment since they are stressed by being played with when taken out of a cage.

The finch started to eat the red fruit. I was so surprised and intrigued. I looked up the fruit and I think its a Prickly Pear?

  3. Wow, the finches are so tiny. And the pink blossoms on the cactus are wonderful. Beautiful contrast with the green. How you got close enough to photo those without scaring away the bird is pretty amazing. Thanks for stopping by. Jane

  4. The finches are so tiny. It’s hard to imagine. And how you got those shots without scaring them off is terrific. Also like the beautiful color of the cactus pods. I’ve not seen anything like that before. Thanks for stopping by. Jane
