Kevin and I splurged and stayed at the Red Mountain RV Park in Silverton, Colorado. We joined Kevin’s family for some jeeping & good old fashion camping during the first week of August.
The town of Silverton is a small quiet mountain town. The Durango/Silverton Train was right in front of our camping spot. The train went by three times a day during mid-day. If you’re looking for a camping site with a view, our camping site was 30. We had to break out the linx levels to get level but seeing the train everyday & the beautiful mountains was worth it.
Kevin and I went on a few 4 wheel trails with his family.
The wildflowers in Silverton were beautiful. Instead of trying to learn everyone of them this year I decided to take pictures of these lovely flowers and try to name them at a later time.
On one of our day trips we drove to Ouray Colorado, we stopped at Box Canon Falls. Ouray is part of the San Juan Skyway.
A volunteer at the Box Canon Falls stands by the lower falls area protecting the birds making their nest in the rocks near the falls. We were able to speak to her for a few moments she told us some children threw rocks at the nesting birds so she stays to protects the birds. I’m so glad its after labor day and all the kids are back in school. I’m hoping that volunteer gets a break.
We had a nice time visiting family in Silverton.
