Cronan Ranch Regional Trails in Pilot Hill, CA
while camping at Ponderosa Thousand Trails in Lotus, CA
The rain and thunder finally stopped in Lotus, CA. We decided to take advantage of the clear skies and do some birding & hiking. I saw dogs, horses and lots of people on the day we hiked. The multi-trails were interesting to walk on. I had to watch my step. The horse scat(poop) was huge.
We hiked until we came to a picnic area. Kevin mapped our hike on run keeper app. The trails were mostly flat. Overall, it was a 4 mile hike.
The wildflowers were everywhere. I have the photos on my computer. I’m slowly finding names for all of them. 🙂 I like photographing wildflowers. This quote says it all.
The first wild-flower of the year is like land after sea. ~Thomas Wentworth Higginson, “April Days,” first published 1861, quoted from the 1897 edition
Bird Spotting– Today the birds hid in the trees but we did spot several types of wildflowers, dragonflies and a few different butterfly species. Only two birds came out of the trees a Western Tanager and Red-winged Blackbird. We were very happy to see them.
