Glacier National Park in Montana

We camped at Spruce River RV Park in Montana to explore West Glacier National Park. The park is about 40 minutes away from the campground. The Spruce River RV Park is an expensive campground but thats all I could find this close to West Glacier National Park in late August. First, we drove to the Apgar Visitor Center to find out more information about the park. I scored two National Passport stamps at the visitor center.

The Going to the Sun Road is a popular scenic drive at the park. We decided to drive The Going to the Sun Road and go on a hike in the park. We drove to Logans Pass and stopped to go on a hike. The drive is filled with natural wonders. We saw the weeping wall, Heavens Peak, Haystack Creek, Bird Womans Falls and much more.

We saw a few Mountain Goats and a Bighorn Sheep herd on our hike at Logan Pass. I added them to our Mammal Life List. While we went on a walk around the RV park we saw a Pileated Woodpecker. This woodpecker is a new bird for our bird life list.

Happy RVing!

We had one full day to see Glacier National Park. It was just too expensive to stay longer. I didn’t see any glaciers with ice on them this time. Maybe, on our next visit we can experience seeing some glaciers. 🙂

Next, Kevin and I are exploring the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge, Montana.
