  • Friday night dinner- call for reservations, good size dining area & bar
  • Elks RV Park is located a few miles out-of-town
  • Free WiFi & Direct TV Satellite reception in site #9
  • friendly host
  • 38 electric/water sites at the Elks RV Park off Mercer Lake Rd
  • nice greenery spacing between sites
  • quaint boardwalk shops, restaurants & Sat-Sun farmers market on the boardwalk
  • Darlingtonia State Nature Site has an interesting carnivorous plant to see.
  • Con: no walking area for us. The road & cars made walking uncomfortable.

  • I’m told there is more chance of an opening here than Eugene.

  • good walking area at the valley river mall @ two-day free camping at the mall parking lot
  • 4-night city ordinance limit
  • Lodge opens at 4:00ish except on Thursday 11:30ish for lunch
  • friendly happy hour members on Tuesday with music, potluck & great conversation
  • The lodge is within 1-hour ish driving distance to Cottage Grove Elks Lodge, Corvallis Elks Lodge, Sweet Home Elks Lodge, Eugene Elks Lodge. Go Visiting!

South Jetty Thousand Trails in Florence

  • enjoyed the boardwalk
  • watch for mosquitos in woodsy areas & not much good walking areas for us
  • some noise from dunes if you’re near them
  • Umpqua River Lighthouse – tour of the lighthouse for a small fee, the tour gets you almost to the top of the lens room.
  • Heceta Head Lighthouse – tour of the keeper house for a $1.00, gift shop, tour of the lighthouse, parking fee
  • Walk the Boardwalk to see the coastal shops & seasonal local artist vendors
  • Sea Lion Cave for a fee
  • geocaching at the boardwalk & surrounding area
  • See Cleft of the Rock Lighthouse on milepost 166, 1.8 miles south of Yachats on the way to Whalers Rest

  • Yaquina Head Lighthouse-make reservations for the tour on recreation.gov or go to the interpretive center to reserve a spot- good birdwatching area

  • We saw people using crab pots on the fishing pier across from the historic bayfront. People were looking for clams near the fishing pier also. It was interesting.
