Bay Landing Thousand Trails in Texas
This park is near Bridgeport, Texas.

This park has a 5-mile walk. It’s called the Armadillo walk. We have our Fitbit’s charged and ready to go. 🙂 My Fitbit goal is 10,000 steps a day.

We found a 30 amp site with full hook up next to the clubhouse. The street is called Hollywood Blvd. 🙂 The satellite reception and internet work well at our site. I think we’re going to have a nice quiet Easter here.

The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher is a new find for us. The long forked tail on this bird is used it catch insects.

We applied for our elk’s membership in Texas this month. I’m excited to join the elk’s organization. If everything goes well we should be elks soon. Its good to be part of an organization that helps others. Also, the elks have RV parks all over the USA.

Happy RVing!

Finally, the seasonal Texas farmer markets are opening. I’m so excited!!!

Visting Livingston Texas

While camping at Lake Conroe Thousand Trails in Texas.

Kevin and I visited Livingston, Texas its about 1 hour from Lake Conroe Thousand Trails. We saw the Escapee RV Club Headquarters. The staff let us see our mail box and gave us a tour of the mail processing area.

We also filled out paperwork for a library card at the Livingston Library. We can check out ebooks from the library while we travel.

Exercise: I’m still loving my Fitbit. My goal is 10,000 steps most days.

Happy RVing!

Colorado River Thousand Trails in Texas

While camping at Colorado River Thousand Trails in Columbus, Texas

Campground: The campground is well maintained. The sites are spacious. The campers are friendly. The verizon & satellite reception is good in D section. We attended a potluck and concert at the activity center. The band played classic rock/folk music/Irish music. The band members passed out a booklet with the lyrics of the songs so we got to sing along with the band. I had a great time.

Wildflowers: I spotted several types of wildflowers here. I’ve been having a good time identifying all of them. I started taking pictures of them for a binder. Texas Blue bonnets, Cedar Sage, Wine Cup, White Prickly Poppy, Texas Indian Paintbrush, Texas Lantana, Pink Evening Primrose, Wind Flower, Bull Nettle, Coreopsis

Hiking: Kevin and I drove over to the Attwater Prairie Chicken Wildlife Refuge. We didn’t see any Prairie Chickens but we spotted several others birds and wildflowers here. Also, we hiked around the Monument Hill & Brewery State Historic Site.

Exercise: We walked 2-3 miles a day here. Also, we did a historic volksmarch 5k around Columbus, Texas. We saw several historic houses, the river, the courthouse, water tower and some local shops in town on the volksmarch.

Birding: Killdeer, Crested Caracara, Savannah Sparrow, Northern Harrier, Vesper Sparrow, Greater Yellowlegs, Black Vulture, Eastern Phoebe

Moving Kris to California Part 1

Kevin and I had the pleasure of our son Kristophers company for a week. Kristopher decided to move. He needed a ride from Texas to California. So we drove to central Texas (Kris was in Texas) from central New Mexico (Kevin and I were in New Mexico) and started to bring Kris to California.

Kris is a real hoot to have around. We did some rest stop geocaching with him along the road to California. Also, we stopped to visit with some fun family members in Texas. We had a good meal, good conversation and great company at Saltgrass Steakhouse restaurant with our awesome Texas family members.

Then, we stopped at the Sky City Casino in Acoma Pueblo in New Mexico for football Sunday. The rv park was clean. I heard a train in the distance at night but I slept on. Its not usually for a train to be near an rv park by the freeway. 🙂

We had good satellite reception and good verizon with our jet pack. Kris and Kevin watched football while I hung out in the back of the RV watching dvds, playing on the computer and reading a book for my book club. Kevin and Kris enjoyed Alien beer that we picked up in Roswell New Mexico. I also had a skinny girl margarita with a lime. It taste okay. I’m just happy to enjoy a margarita without tons of calories. Kevin made Turkey burgers with mushrooms, onions and french fries for us. I had a side dish of veggies no fries for me. In the evening we watched a Sci-fi movie with a snack of greek 80 calorie yogurt, fruit, flaxseed and almonds. It was a  good day.

Happy Family Time!

Next, we traveled to Williams Arizona & Laughlin Nevada on our way to California.

Arizona & Domicle state Upate

We’re saying good-bye to Arizona. The ghost town of Jerome, calm national forests, red rock country, farmers markets, cafes, national monuments and the verde valley thousand trail campground greeter are experiences we enjoyed.

Verde Valley Thousand Trails Campground Greeter

The Verde Valley Thousand Trails Campground Greeter.  Wherever we drive in he is sitting by the thousand trails entrance sign.

Sedona’s claim of natural psychic energy in the area and Bell Rock attracting UFO’s was interesting but not something, I put much stock into. I bet Sedonians have tons of good campground stories about the area.

Does the Cathedral Rock in West side of Sedona give off a sense of well-being to all who approach within 500 yards? Maybe? Maybe not?  🙂 This conservative christian was shocked by the amount of new age shops in Sedona. Psychics, soul finders, fortune tellers, crystals and more… it’s all here in Sedona. Its a beautiful area for a scenic drive even if you don’t have a new age experience in Sedona.

Domicile state: We had a change in our domicile state. Our escapee mail service is having legal problems with South Dakota so we’ve been making our way towards Texas to establish domicile residency.

I’d like to shout out to Todd & Rosemary Boorman who we met in Benson, Arizona. They are from Southern California like us. 🙂

Happy Travels!

Domicile dilemma, walking & budgets

670px-Save-Money-on-Food-Step-3Fulltime Preparation: I’m trying to stay in budget during the holidays.  I’m working on not buying anything I don’t need but separating needs & wants is a challenge.

Update: A need is something you have to have like food.
A want is something you would like to have. It isn’t absolutely necessary but it would be a good thing to have.

Domicile State:  the challenges of picking a state for us
Texas:  Inspections every time I enter Texas more than 72 hrs   Update: 90 days after entering the state-  I wonder if this will change ???
South Dakota: It’s cold in the winter. Wheel Tax in some county’s ….its still cheaper than California
Florida: Jury duty Update: sounds like its a must be there thing in Florida  Plus, I would like to domicile in the western part of the USA.

The positive– I’m from California. I’m going to save money whatever state I pick. 🙂

Exercise: While preparing for the holidays, our walking has slowed down. I hope that after Christmas we can get back to walking. I’m starting to feel fatter. 😦

Vehicle Update: We have one vehicle our jeep wrangler. Kevin is still working at this time. This leaves me at home during the day. I need to be productive so I find things to do around the house or online. It saves us in vehicle insurance & gas.

Next Trip After Christmas: Las Vegas, Nevada

Happy Holidays!
