While camping at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California

Walking Update: Kevin and I have been walking 2-3 miles most days. This campground is almost 1 mile around the perimeter. One of the main things we look for in a campground is a walking area.

Kevin and I were walking around the park one night on labor day weekend and we noticed a Rock n Roll band playing at the pool area. We stayed for a few songs. The usual preschoolers danced around in front of the band. The music was good. The night was pleasant. It was a good treat for us.

Kevin joined the Elks at the end of April this year in Texas. I have spouse privileges. That means I have all the benefits but I can’t vote and attend a meeting. It’s a good deal for us. We have been having a nice time visiting different Elks lodges for RVing, Elks pins, meals, fundraisers, good conversation and some good camaraderie with other Elks.

Its been so hot in Southern California we haven’t been able to do much outside so Kevin and I headed over to the Lake Elsinore Elks Lodge #2591 for lunch. The lodge was burned down a few years ago. The new lodge is nice.

We were given a tour of the new lodge by a fellow Elks member. The new lodge has a good size dance floor, nice lounge, kitchen, rv hook ups and great club sandwiches. The rv hook ups are next to the lodge. They’re located on a black top with electric/water hook ups. There was plenty of room to camp the day we visited the lodge for lunch.

Our daughter came over after school for dinner, a game & a 2-mile walk. We had a salad & two slices of cantaloupe then walked around the park. Our daughter Katie and I joined weight watchers together so we will have many of these walks & weight watcher meals together.  We had an unexpected visitor on our walk. We saw a snake.

It looks like a Western Diamond Back. I could be wrong. If you know what kind of snake this is then leave a comment below. We had a nice visit even with the snake interrupting our family walk.

The Hemet Elks Lodge has a lunch a few times a week. The lodge is new looking. They have an outside area with places to sit under the shade. There is no RV parking at this lodge.

They gave us two Elks Lodge pins & a donut for free. The lodge members were getting ready for the weekly evening bingo night.  A few of the members took the time to chat with us. We had some good conversations with the members here.

Happy RVing!

Keeping it simple

It was a quiet day today. We made smoothies for breakfast and then we walked a 3k around the campground. We had a second cup of coffee then started to organize the outside storage bay of the day. This is our biggest storage bay to organize. Our goal is to organize one storage bay a day.

Kevin found a few containers for geocaching in the compartment we organized today. We’re making a letterbox stamp geocache with plenty of room for travel bugs. A letterbox stamp geocache has a stamp inside with a log book for stamping. We could cross list the letterbox geocache with We haven’t found the perfect place for the geocache yet. I’ve been looking into all the rules in placing your own geocache on I made us tea with some fresh spearmint leaves and we had lunch. Kevin played a video game on the tv inside while I read my book outside.

Organizing Inside

I reorganized the storage under the bed after lunch with Kevin’s help. I have a list of all the things under the bed now. I’m hoping to keep the list updated throughout the year. 🙂 My last year’s list worked out okay but I had to organize the under bed storage a few times last year to keep things up to date.

Relaxing Time

Kevin and I floated in the pool on our noodles and did some jacuzzi time today. There was a group of men hanging out in the pool talking about the weather and their travels. They were a friendly bunch. Later, we watched our usual youtube videos and Kevin warmed up the left over spaghetti for dinner. I stir fried mushrooms, onions, spinach and a couple of shrimp to go on top. We had yogurt and fruit for dessert while watching tv, reading books, playing words with friends and trivia crack.

Happy RVing!

This picture is of Menifee Lakes on our volksmarch today.

Camping at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California for the holidays

It wasn’t raining today so we did a 5k volksmarch in Menifee Lakes. The host of the volksmarch is The Low Desert Roadrunners. The volksmarch starts in a Ralphs parking lot in Menifee, CA. We saw views of Menifee Lakes on the volksmarch and passed our daughter Katie’s college Mt San Jacinto Community College Menifee Campus. Katie is working towards her RN degree. After, the volksmarch we stopped at It’s a Grind for a coffee and split an everything bagel with a great deal of cream cheese on it. 🙂

Cleaning the RV

In the afternoon we cleaned out one of the outside compartments in the rv. We’re going to slowly clean out the outside RV compartments this week one at a time. Kevin and I relaxed in the pool on our noodles this time we had the pool to ourselves.

Visiting with Katie

Katie came over for dinner after school. Her car air filter needed replacing so Kevin helped her with it. Its ready to be placed in the car she just needs to put it in when it dries. I made low smart point fajitas and Kevin steamed some corn.We all went on a walk in the campground, some of the rvers have good Halloween decorations at their campsite. I enjoy looking at the decorations in the campground during the holiday season on our walks.

Late Evening

Kevin and I watched Aftermath on tv, read our books, played words with friends & trivia crack. Thats what a day in this retired rver’s life is like. We like our lifestyle and hope to continue with it for many years.

Happy RVing!

Vasquez Rock in California- This rock is in many movies & tv shows. We saw this while camping at Soledad Canyon Thousand Trails in California in 2015.

Camping at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California for the holidays

Kevin and I had our usual southwestern egg beater omelet with low-fat cheese, extra bell peppers & onion. Also, 2 turkey sausage and 1/2 english muffin. Kevin cooks the sausage and omelet. I cook the veggies & make the english muffins. Team work!

We did a 4k around the campground. Our fellow campers were outside as usual. I saw a group of American Coots along the pond. They’ve been fascinating me lately.

We had our dental appointments today. I like the dental office staff. It wasn’t terribly expensive. Kevin and I are on a budget so I appreciate that. The fluoride treatment is gross but I understand it’s necessary.

After, our dental appointment we watched a few youtube channels on tv. We have two nieces that have youtube channels. We try to watch their channels so we can keep in touch with them. Kevin and I also found a few RVer’s & Geocachers we like to watch on youtube.

Kevin cooked salmon, onions and mushrooms. He also steamed asparagus for dinner. Then we had peach 80 calorie Greek yogurt, flaxseed, almonds with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries on top for dessert. Kevin and I played trivia crack & words with friends together on our iphones. Kevin played video games on tv and I read my book.

I hope this gives you a glimpse into our daily life as retired RVer’s camping in one spot.

Happy RVing!

“After a storm comes calm.”–Mathew Henry

Camping at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California

Kevin and I were going on a 5k volksmarch but it started raining with thunder & lightning. We decided to wait for a break in the rain. When it stopped raining for a few minutes we walked around the campground. I enjoy walking outside after a rain. I avoid the rain puddles and breathe the air. It smells fresh.

We need to sell our 2014 Jeep Wrangler back seat so we drove to our storage area to take pictures of the seat. Then Kevin posted it on craigslist. I hope it sells quickly. The storm was beautiful in the late afternoon. We kept the door open and left the screen closed. I could see the rain and hear the thunder. It was intense  but exciting.

I made low smart point fajitas and Kevin steamed broccoli and brussel sprouts in the pressure cooker. Then Kevin made popcorn and we watched Derek Gentry Holistic Detective Agency on tv. I played trivia crack with Kevin and read the book Rebecca for a book club that my daughter Katie started.

Homemade Product Recipe

I needed a few ingredients so we drove to Wal-Mart. The Wal-Mart had the vitamin E & tea tree essential oil I needed to complete two recipes. I finished the coconut oil moisturizer lotion & my honey facial cleaner. I’m so glad were using more natural ingredients.

Happy RVing!

The American Flag & US Army Veteran Flag flying high at our campsite.

Camping at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California for the holidays.

Kevin and I did a 4k around the campground for our morning walk. Our fellow campers were out walking their dogs, jogging and starting their day. I saw a hawk flying over the campground. He was a beauty.

Pool Time

The pool was refreshing today. Our fellow campers were friendly but not as talkative today at the pool. The jacuzzi was full so we passed on our spa time. There were several of us with pool noodles so one of the ladies joked that we should have pool noodle races. lol

Homemade Products

I gathered more ingredients for my homemade product recipes at Super Target. The gathering of the ingredients has been a big process because the ingredients are in several different stores. I’m going to experiment with several homemade products.

I found the lavender essential oil and sweet almond nourishing oil on sale at Super Target. My heels are cracked so I placed 1/2 a lemon on each heel then covered my heels with socks for one hour. My heels feel softer but they still need some work.

Kevin and I walked our yorkie around the park. Then we watched tv and had our 80 calorie greek yogurt dessert with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries on top. I read, played friends with words and blogged before bed. Kevin read, played friends with words & played games on the computer before bed.

Happy RVing!

Camping in one spot on Friday

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” – Gustave Flaubert

Camping Life on Friday at Wilderness Lakes Thousand Trails in Menifee, California

Today we got stuck in traffic driving to our eye appointments in Temecula, California. I forgot my sunglasses so the sun was right in my face most of the time. The traffic took so long to clear out we missed our Starbucks coffee time before our appointments. The horror!

We decided to treat ourselves to Red Robin for lunch since our Starbucks coffee time was canceled. The rest of the day we plan to read, blog, hang out at the pool, jacuzzi and campground.

The pool and jacuzzi were wonderful. We floated on our retirement noodles and had a great conversation with several interesting people at the pool. We met a man that traveled in the Oregon & Washington Thousand Trails this Summer just like we did. Also, a women that was just fun to talk to.  Great Conversation! Great Pool Time!

For dinner, we had stir fry vegetables with shrimp. Also, corn steamed in the pressure cooker.

Happy RVing!
